Artifact C2: Critical Race Theory and Latino Identity Development
This entry contains one of my best-written works from the Student Development Administration Program. This piece focuses on the intersections of Critical Race Theory and Latina/o Identity Development. I wrote this paper during SDAD 578: Student Development Theory, Research and Practice during winter 2013. This entry demonstrates my growth in synthesizing theoretical models and research into common themes. SDAD 578 challenged me to critically question any literature I read to figure out who is it serving and which populations are left out.
This entry addresses learning outcomes number 1 (Understanding the foundations and emerging nature of the Student Affairs profession and higher education), number 2 (Understanding students and student issues), number 4 (Understanding and fostering diversity, justice and a sustainable world formed by a global perspective and Jesuit Catholic tradition), and number 7 (Utilizing assessment, evaluation, technology, and research to improve practice). Although a shorter paper, theory synthesis pushed me to consider a multitude of angles under a common theme.
